Snow, snow and more snow

January has been a snowy month. Ok, really we have only had 2 real snows but they have been huge, around 6 inches each time. Yes, that is huge to me. Along with this snow comes cold temperatures so we haven't been able to be out in it a lot but when school got canceled on Thursday I decided we needed to go sledding.
Now I really believe with two boys, sledding is a two parent job but since that is not an option and in Kansas you never know if it will snow next year. So the boys and I got all bundled up and headed to a smallish hill that I knew a lot of people wouldn't be at. Linear trail is a great place to sled, hill is just big enough Brady can get back up on his own but not too big that I get worn out, climbing back up every time to help with the sled and Blake. We had a great time. Blake face planted a couple times and lost a boot once but we had so much fun. More snow is forcasted for this weekend and I think sledding is too.

Back to School

The boys and I on Christmas Eve
Well the holidays are officially over. We have to go back to school. As I type this they are sleeping later than they have all break and should really be up. I have lunches packed and milk ready for breakfast, now to wake them, feed them, get them dressed and out the door in 15 minutes. :) For me, it's my day off. I'm heading to the gym then to the store for some OJ, gotta get some Vitamin C pumped into us since we are back among people and kids again. I don't have time to be sick.

New Year.....New Adventures!

Ok, lets recap 2010....
  • Jason turned 34 on May 30
  • Brady turned 4 on July 17
  • Jason went to NTC June-July
  • Blake got tubes July 30, and Jason got back from NTC July 29. Good timing!!!!
  • Went on a 2 week family vacation in August. Spent a week at the beach, North Padre and in Corpus Christi and a week visting family followed by Brady in Kim's wedding
  • Brady started pre-k and Blake started a one day preschool. They are both learning so much
  • Jason left for Iraq October 10, 2010---10/10/10 has to be lucky right?
  • I ran 2 half marathons--Abilene and Kansas City
  • Blake turned 2 on October 22
  • I turned 32 November 24
That about covers 2010. I'm sure I missed a few things but those are the important events that jump out in my mind.
Christmas was good. The boys were so excited but I guess we haven't done much hype on Santa because Brady was more excited that it was going to be Jesus' Birthday! I guess if I do nothing else right in their lives, my children LOVE Jesus!! When asked at Thanksgiving what they were thankful for (I asked them at seperate times) Brady replied, "God and my family" and Blake said "Jesus."
We go to Church every weekend we are in Manhattan and they LOVE it. Brady hates to miss and gets so excited when I respond to him asking "Where are we going in the morning" with "Church."

We didn't have a huge New Years Celebration, in fact I was the only one up at midnight. Brady and I 'celebrated' at 10:00 pm with sparkling white grape juice in wine glasses and he thought that was a BIG deal, plus he got to stay up that late. :)
As far as what this New Year will bring.....I have no idea but I know we will be guided by Gods hands and only great things will come from that. Heck, Jason will be home in 2011 so that already makes it a great year! Hard to believe that Brady will start Kindergarten in 2011. Not sure where my time has gone but it went fast. Makes a little sad when I think about it but I'm so proud of both boys. They are so different and so much the same and ALL boy!!
My goal for this year is to spend more time reading His word, keep up with my blog and spend as much time with my boys as possible. Will I keep working or stay home? That is yet to be determined, positives both ways. This will be the year we find out!

Its been 6 months. REALLY?

Wow, it's funny how quickly time flies. 6 months. Well maybe it has something to do with nothing happening. I did run the St. Patricks Day 10K and finished a LOT faster than last year and even under an hour. Still think I could do better but I really don't push myself so what can I say. I'm happy just finishing. Over the weekend, April 10 to be exact, I ran the Abilene 1/2 marathon. It was a good run but I guess I was hurt. Did not realize I was hurt until I started running. From the starting line it just didn't feel right and I felt aches and PAINS the entire run. Thank goodness for my amazing running partner to push me to the end.
So other than running and cycling and lifting a bit, not much has been going on. The weather is AMAZING!! The boys and I have been playing outside every day. Sometimes I'm sad they have to nap because we miss this great weather but once I lay down to nap too, I'm no longer sad. :) Blake loves to point out trucks and cars and will show you everyone and will not stop saying truck or car until you respond to him. Brady is really enjoying his bike. He wants to go on a ride every day, and we usually do. Doesn't take long to wear him out.
So my next goal is a 1/2 marathon in Leavenworth in May, that is IF I can get healed. Will work on myself and try and figure out where the injury is coming from. Is it Piriformis, Patellartendon or my back out. Only time and probably Scott (the PT I work for) will tell. :) Pictures to follow as soon as I get them off my camera.

First day of 2 days

Brady started going to Preschool 2 days a week today. I'm off on Tuesday and Thursdays and they finally had an opening for him. So we changed him from Wednesdays to Tuesday and Thursday. I'm a little sad with him not being here but it will be good for him and me. I get some Blake time (though he is sleeping right now) and some ME time. This is the first time I've been without him and just with Blake. Something new. Brady is doing well in school and really seems to enjoy going. He wasn't really excited about today since it was new kids but he will get used to it and have a great time. Mrs. Rebekah and Mrs. Anne are wonderful. So here's to praying he loves it and they continue to love him!!

Pictures!

We also went to the first K-State game of the year. Mom, dad, Barr and Cassie also went with us. It was a lot of fun and the boys did pretty good!

September already?

Is that possible? Can it really be September 2009 already? That means my baby will be a year old next month and Jason has been back in the Army for almost a year. It also means that I will be 31 in a couple months and can no longer say I'm just 30 and have officially entered my 30s. My parents were right when they said every year it goes a little faster.
Brady started preschool on September 2. He only goes one day a week (Wednesday) for 4 hours and has only gone once. We were able to get him into an ENT Dr and the first appointment was on Wednesday and then had surgery for ear tubes yesterday. So he will really start next week! He seemed to like the first day but was not excited about Blake not being with him. Like I said he had ear tubes yesterday. He did fine. It took all of 5 minutes and it was over. They took him back to surgery in a powerwheel so he wasn't upset about going and probably before he knew we were not there he was asleep.
We went to Storytime at the Library today and Brady got to get his first Library book and even got his very own Library Card!! He was really excited and felt so important. Blake seemed to like storytime ok but he's 10 months so can't sit still and pay that much attention for too long. We met a lady and her kids from Church there so that was nice for me. :)
Over all, everything is great. Jason got back the end of July and is now at Ft. Riley working very hard and I don't feel we see a lot of him but at least he's in KS. I will post pictures of Brady's first day of school in it's own blog.

Mama Dada

Well Blake is talking up a storm. He really started "talking" in Georgia. He started saying dada and I have to admit I was like, "what the..." I'm with him all the time and he starts with dada. But I think he was just trying to make Jason feel good. :) Then soon after came mama and now that's takes up most of his vocabulary. That and nana, gaga, googoo. So cute. Right now both the boys have ear infections. Blake Left and Brady Right. UGH. Good thing though, neither of them act that sick and Brady only reason I checked on him was because he was running a temp on and off for about 2 weeks. (i'm not one to rush to the Dr.)
