Christmas Day

Christmas was WONDERFUL!!!! The family was all together and it was Brady's 1st Christmas. OH SO SO much fun. We helped Brady open a few presents and while he didn't really care, I did. It was so amazing seeing him sitting there with all the presents under the tree. My how time flies. I never dreamed he'd be sitting opening presents so soon. My baby is growing up so fast.
So Christmas begins every year as long as I can remember with Santa (Grandpa) saying Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas. This signals that we can get out of bed and Christmas can begin. Well this is the 1st Christmas without my Grandpa as he passed away September 9 2006. I couldn't imagine a Christmas without him but we did it. So I figured my dad would say it but I didn't think it would work. Just as I figured dad kept with the tradition so Brady would know the excitement and magic of Santa.
HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Brady's eyes opened but he was so tired, he looked at me and turned his head and went right back to sleep. I said Brady, Santa came, it's Christmas, that was Santa but again he looked at him and turned his head, closed his eyes and went right back to sleep.
We got up and opened a few presents but had to wait on The Ives' Family so we took our time, brushed our teeth and then Brady woke up and was ready for Christmas, well as ready as a 5 month old can be. I got him up and feed him and then sat him in front of the tree for a picture op.
Everyone got there and we opened presents and had a wonderful time. Grandpa was greatly missed but he was there. He had Grandma get some cards before he died so he could sign them because he knew he wouldn't be here for Christmas. It was super emotional but wonderful at the same time. Tears were shed and hugs were given and that was that and we moved on.
People say it gets easier and I'm sure it does but right now it's hard. Brady was a gift from God when we needed it the most. God works in amazing ways.

Getting Ready for Christmas

Our 1st Christmas as a family was great. We went to visit my parents and had a wonderful time. My Dad flew to TX to pick up my Grandma and they got to my parents around 8:00 Saturday night.
Sunday my dad and Jason were getting ready to head into town to grab a few necessary items and the Blazer was behind the Truck. So dad had Jason move the Blazer and guess what. The Blazer wouldn't turn on. Nothing. Well I was inside and was thinking it was taking them a long time to leave so I peaked outside and what did I see, Jason and Dad trying to push the Blazer up a hill. UGH!!! Merry Christmas to us. So they figured it is the fuel pump and we get to buy one of those next weekend. Anyway, Mom, Grandma, Brady and I were getting ready to go to Wal-Mart. I went out to get the carseat base from the Blazer and Jason had locked the doors and took the keys so I got to stay home with Brady while they went shopping. Fun, fun.
Well everyone got back and we hung out and ate a sandwich and got ready for CHRISTMAS!!

Jason went to bed early as did Brady while I stayed up and finished wrapping a couple presents. Time for Bed because Santa Clause is comming.

Santa's coming

Brady took his first picture with Santa yesterday. It was his 5 month birthday and we needed a picture and what better way than a 1st picture with Santa. We stood in line around 12:15 and they took too long. Brady decided he'd had enough so we left so I could feed him and let him lay down for a nap. And nap he did 2 1/2 hours. In that time Jason and I finally got our room put together. We've only lived here since Aug 1, why get in a hurry. :) So we cleaned up the house and waited on Brady to wake up. Don't we just lead the most exciting life.
Brady woke up and ate and we headed out. The line wasn't long but still took us quite a while. There we were, we were next, Brady was going to have his 1st Santa experience and Santa decided he needed to pee. We have a 5 month old who gets bored so easy and Santa needed a break. UGH. Well he took what felt like forever and finally made it back. Of course the kids in front of us were so excited to see Santa until they got up there and then they were scared to death so it took them a bit to get "the perfect picture."
Ok, now Brady's turn and what does Santa say, "A little girl?" I couldn't believe it, I thought Santa knew everything, I mean he knows if you've been bad or good but he doesn't know if my baby is a boy or a girl. Well that's the 1st time anyone has ever thought he was a girl. I had him dressed in a yellow and tan stripped shirt and jeans. I mean nothing gender specific but geese.
So we got the picture and it cost us a small fortune for something we could have done at home if we only had a Santa costume but it's something we will cherish forever.
It's amazing how quickly they grow up and before long he'll be grown and going to school. I love every second of being a mom.

Christmas Picture

We took our Christmas picture on Sunday. After many attempts to get Jason to not look like he wanted to kill the camera, I think it turned out pretty nice. Then after Church Brady was so happy that I had to try and get some of just him in front of the tree. It was a good effort but Brady is too short to sit in front of the tree and still see the tree. We got some cute shots of him though. It's amazing how quickly they grow.
Today Jason, Brady and I ran around town so Jason could show me Christmas ideas and we could get a few things for his family. Then off to work and with only 5 patients on the schedule, it's amazing how busy I was and how late getting home I was.
Brady ate carrots for the 1st time tonight. He wasn't to sure about it but once he started there was no stopping him. What a big boy.
